…she began wondering about her own decisions,
and about the shadow life of choices not made that trailed behind the life she lived now.

Writers at the Beach: Pure Sea Glass
is the annual March writing conference held to raise money for mitochondrial disease research in memory of Maribeth’s seven-year-old nephew, Sam, and in honor of her fifteen-year-old nephew, Zachary, who is struggling with the disease.  Over three dozen renowned writers, editors, agents, songwriters and publishers from across the country volunteer their time to this event, which attracts more than 150 participants. To date the conference has donated 35,000 to the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.

The Rehoboth Beach Writers’ Guild was founded by Maribeth and based on the belief that every one has a story to tell, and that by working with other writers in a variety of settings, we can give voice to important stories that, for whatever reason, are not being told: the stories our elders carry, the stories our children and teens want to tell us, the stories those who are sick or who care for the sick need us to know. The Rehoboth Beach Writers’ Guild is dedicated to providing a supportive, encouraging, and educational atmosphere for all those with the desire to write.
